About Mark Shifrin, ASA
Mark Shifrin is the President of Brookline Valuation Services, Inc. and an Accredited Senior Appraiser (ASA) in Business Valuation. With more than 25 years of business valuation experience, he provides independent valuations of privately held businesses, ownership interests, intangible assets and complex securities throughout Greater Boston and New England. Mark works directly with business owners, attorneys, CPAs, fiduciaries, investors and finance executives. He personally manages each engagement—from defining the valuation question and understanding the business through analysis, reporting and discussion of the conclusions. Clients receive the attention of a seasoned valuation professional throughout the process.
Valuations for consequential decisions
Mark’s work includes business valuations for gift and estate tax reporting and estate settlement; IRC Section 409A and ASC 718 stock-based compensation; purchase price allocations under ASC 805; ownership transitions and partner buyouts; shareholder disputes and litigation; goodwill impairment; and valuations of intellectual property and other intangible assets. He values both controlling and noncontrolling interests, including assignments that require analysis of transfer restrictions and discounts for lack of control or marketability.
